| | | Apple Tree - Reverend W. Wilks Origin: Slough, 1908 Apple Taste: Light, quite sweet puree Type: Culinary Pollination Group : 2 Rootstock: M106 or M25 Size : Maiden Harvest : September Vigour : Weak
Reverend Wilks was the Secretary of the RHS from 1888 - 1919, and this superb mid-season cooking apple was named in his honour. The very large fruit are a pale primrose yellow, flushed with a delicate pinky-red and cook to a pale yellow froth with a delicate aromatic flavour. Reverend W. Wilks makes a dwarfish apple tree suitable for small gardens and is very hardy and disease resistant, so does well even in the colder and wetter areas of the country. Crops are extremely heavy, although this can lead to a slight tendency to be biennial. Partially thin crops in June to avoid this. Very highly recommended.
Supplier : R.V. Roger Ltd. We donate half of our profit on sales of Reverend W. Wilks apple trees to Common Ground
See our section on Pollination Groups to help you select your apple trees. The rootstock for all our apple trees is the most vigorous available. We try to offer as many apple varieties as we can on M25 rootstock, which will produce the standard trees of a traditional orchard, where they would be planted between 6 and 8 metres apart. Please refer to our size guide for details. All our Reverend W. Wilks trees are bare root. At the height of the lifting season there may be up to a months delay between placing the order and dispatching due to pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence, and the weather. Orders for apple trees taken from March to September are confirmed in September ready for dispatch from November. Please note there is an overall minimum order size of £50.
