| | | Mazzard Cherry - Dun Dun is an handsome variety of edible wild cherry (Prunus avium), or "mazzard". Dun is a vigorous, tall tree, and very resistant to bacterial canker. It flowers slightly earlier than other varieties of mazzard, except Hannaford, and produces a larger fruit than the other varieties we sell. Mazzards are now very unusual trees, historically associated with the West Country, and the varieties we sell were found in North Devon. Mazzards were, however, once found across England. Michael Gee has written a helpful introduction, "Mazzards" (The Mint Press).
