Certainly much older than its first recorded date, Hessle was also known as the Hazel pear. Its name connects it with the Yorkshire town of Hessle, now a suburb of Hull. It is the hardiest pear we sell, and will thrive in almost any situation. The fruit is juicy and sweet. Hessle is self sterile; see our section on Pollination Groups to find a suitable pollinator. Supplier : R.V. Roger Ltd. We donate half of our profit on sales of Hessle Pears to Common Ground
All our pear trees are bare root. At the height of the lifting season - between November and March - there may be up to a months delay between placing the order and dispatching due to pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence, and the weather. Orders for pear trees from March to September are confirmed in late October/ early November ready for dispatch from November. Please consult our planting and care guide on receipt of your order.
