 | | | Stock Friendly Hedge Mix These are strong 60/80 cm hedging plants in a diverse native mix ideal for paddocks and garden hedges, and approved for grant-aided planting. Although there is no Blackthorn in the mix, avoiding potential damage to horse's eyes, it is good for laying and will make a dense thick hedge. Like all newly planted hedging however, it will need to be protected from animals for the first few years. This diverse mix is 50% Hawthorn and 10% each of 5 species of native hedging plant chosen by us from a list that includes Crab Apple, Dog Rose, Dogwood, Field Maple, Guelder Rose, Hazel, Spindle, Field Rose, Wayfaring Tree. These plants are bare root, so they are available for delivery from November until March. During the lifting season there may be up to two weeks delay between placing the order and despatch, due to weather conditions or pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence. Orders placed between March and September are confirmed in September ready for despatch from November.
Please looks at our tips for planting and initial care of hedge whips, and on hedge laying and maintenance in our resources section. We also run one day hedgelaying courses. You can find out more about the history of hedges here.
