Wild Pear (Pyrus pyraster)

Like the Crab Apple, the Wild Pear is distinct from feral pears from pips, and is a good deal rarer than the Cultivated Pear, Pyrus communis. It is a slow growing small tree, tolerant of most well drained soils. A good tree for wildlife; pretty white blossom enjoyed by bees, and although its pears are hard and inedible to humans they are not, however, to a myriad of small mammals.
Provenance certificates are available on request for Wild Pear trees, which are from the Southwest of England.
