Exotic Trees

We sell a number of non-native trees, many of which are recommended by the The British Beekeepers' Association because of their value as nectar and/or pollen sources for honey bees (we've also included the spectacular Foxglove Tree (pictured) for bumblebees). Not only are they very striking and sometimes fragrant specimen trees, but some of them have unusual flowering seasons, adding to their visual appeal in the garden and supplementing the forage available for bees in spring and summer from native trees and other plants.
We donate half of our profits from most of the trees here to the Apiculture Laboratory at Sussex University.
In contrast to our native trees and orchard trees, we are offering these trees as both bare root and, from spring 2011, as pot grown, when they will beavailable all year round. We have listed them by their Latin names rather than English synonyms.
