Apple Tree - William Crump
Origin: Worcestershire, 1908
Apple Taste: Excellent: intense, rich, juicy
Flowering Group : 5
Size : Maiden
Harvest : October
Vigour : High
William Crump is one of the very best eating apples there is, and rates as one of Monty Don's favourite apples of all time. Its apples are rich and crisp without being sweet - delicious. Its parents are Cox's Orange Pippin and Worcester Pearmain, so perhaps it's not surprising. William Crump is helpful too insofar as it's a late season variety, but the trees do need space as they're very vigorous.
