Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is a member of the daisy family and is therefore a good insect attractant in spite of its subdued appearance and tiny flowers. Smaller insects such as hoverflies particularly like it, collecting the pollen when it first appears, but some of the meadow butterflies, especially the meadow brown, will take Yarrow nectar. The off-white flowers are not striking but those that naturally occur with a flush of pink add something special to a summer meadow. Yarrow's feathery leaves have a pungent aromatic scent (and are an occasional larval food plant for the little lime-speck pug moth) and yarrow's stiff stems are an important meadow component providing structure and support for more lax growers. Yarrow flowers in mid summer and continues to provide nectar and pollen for insects as late in the year as September.

We supply Yarrow in our selected wildflower trays or seed mixes but we also sell it here on its own, as seed, or in trays of 104 55cc plug plants.
