Apple Tree - Allington Pippin

Origin: Lincolnshire, pre 1884
Apple Taste: Rich, aromatic
Type: Dessert
Flowering Group : 2
Rootstock: M106
Size : Maiden
Harvest: October
Vigour : Medium

Allington's Pippin was originally called the South Lincoln Pippin - a cross between King of Pippins and Cox's Orange Pippin. It was bred by Thomas Laxton but renamed by fellow nurseryman George Bunyard in 1894. Allington Pippin apples are by all accounts on the sharp side but can also be cooked. It's a relatively easy tree to grow, crops heavily, and has a compact habit good for small gardens.
