Apple Tree - Cornish Gilliflower

Origin: Truro, 1813
Apple Taste: Rich, aromatic
Type: Dessert
Flowering Group : 3
Rootstock: M106
Size : Maiden
Harvest : October
Vigour : Moderate

No-one's quite sure why "Gilliflower", which may be a corruption of the Middle English or French for clove ("girofle"), which its apples are said to smell like. One thing for sure is that it originated in Cornwall - in a cottage garden near Truro. The Cornish Gilliflower needs a warm spot and the aromatic rather oblong shaped apples should be picked late in the season. Beware when pruning - it is a tip bearer!

Supplier : R.V. Roger Ltd.

Your purchase helps us support a range of charities, which are related to the products we sell.

See our section on Pollination Groups to help you select your apple trees.

The rootstock for our dessert, or eating apple trees, is the most vigorous available - M106 and M25. M25 rootstock will produce the standard trees of a traditional orchard, which will grow over 4.5m, and M106 a good garden tree of 3 to 4m. Please refer to our size guide for details.
All our Cornish Gilliflower apple trees are bare root. At the height of the lifting season there may be up to a month's delay between placing the order and dispatching due to pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence, and the weather. Orders for Cornish Gillifower apple trees taken from March to September are confirmed in October ready for dispatch from November. Please note there is an overall minimum order size of £50.
