Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea)
The native foxglove, Digitalis purpurea, is the most lovely biennial, beloved particularly by long tongued bumblebees. Our native foxglove is - guess what - purple. As a woodland plant it likes dappled shade and grows quite happily in relatively dark spots. Foxgloves self-seed prolifically, and its seeds will germinate in disturbed soil. The leaves and flowers of Digitalis are poisonousWe supply native foxgloves in our selected wildflower trays or seed mixes but we also sell it here on its own, as seed or 55cc plug plants.
