Gage Tree - Reine Claude de Bavay

Origin: Belgium, 1843
Type: Dessert
Flowering Group : 2
Rootstock: St Julian A
Size : Maiden
Harvest : October

Reine Claude de Bavay has an upright compact habit and delicious fruit. It is very popular in France. 'Reine Claude de Bavay' came from a seedling of 'Reine Claude', which is probably what we know as Green Gage. Complicated, I know. Anyway, Claude de Bavay is a beauty, with very tasty fruit. Recommended. Like plums, their close relations (and botanically indistinguishable), gages have lovely blossom which attracts a range of pollinators in spring, including bees, although they can be self fertile.

We donate half of our profits on sales of Reine Claude de Bavay gage trees to Common Ground

All our gage trees are bare root. At the height of the lifting season - between November and March - there may be up to a month's delay between placing the order and dispatching due to pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence, and the weather. Orders for gages from March to September are confirmed in late October/ early November ready for dispatch from November. Please consult our planting and care guide on receipt of your order.
