Pond And River Plants
We can't overstate the need to source aquatic plants carefully. We only sell native, non-invasive pond plants with British provenance. Our specialist suppliers of aquatic, wetland, and marginal plants either grows the plants themselves or sources them from other UK growers.
See below for a list of our plant and seed collections for ponds and wetlands. We also offer individual native aquatic and marginal species on request; please contact us if you are interested. Please note that these plants are only available on a seasonal basis. The nursery grows new stock from autumn to early spring, so we do not deliver over this period.
The plants could not be easier to plant. They're mostly good size plug plants (4 or 5cm in diameter), although we do supply some as bare root, depending on the season. The pond plant collections come labelled, with a guide as to where to plant which plants. We don't include anything punchy in these collections or in the coir rolls and mats, so don't worry about anything taking over. Species are also selected for their aesthetic appeal and value to wildlife.
As Chris Baines put it "a wildlife garden without a pond is like a theatre without a stage". You will be amazed at how quickly the wildlife arrives, and what spectacular knock on effects you will notice to the ecosystem in your own back garden or landholding. You will attract some of our most beautiful and charismatic species.
We're proud to be a corporate associate of the Freshwater Habitats Trust, who are an invaluable source of help and advice on all things fresh water and benefit from sales of our aquatic plants and seed.
Just some feedback on the plants you sold us two years ago... I simply can't believe that the pond was only created so recently. It looks like it has always been there and is teaming with wildlife - frogs, newts and lots of damsel and dragonflies. The Wildlife Pond Native plant collection has really settled in well, and looks fantastic. Thank you!Anne, Somerset
