Green Roofs
Although a green roof won't be as complex or diverse as a natural habitat, it is a beautiful way of helping biodiversity in an urban setting. Careful planting of native plants and design can also enable you to encourage different forms of wildlife. Green roofs will also reduce your carbon footprint, giving much better insulation than a traditional roof, and help regulate rain water run-off. Counter-intuitively, they also have an extended life as the waterproofing is protected from extremes of weather.
We recommend a firm of experienced consultants who can offer a full design, supply, and installation service for green roofs, living walls, and brown roofs (to most closely recreate ground conditions). Please contact us for details. We supply appropriate plug plants, a green roof seed mixture and appropriate wildflower turf ourselves.
