Early Crocus (Crocus tommasinianus) Bulb Collection

Crocuses provide an excellent and important source of early pollen for honeybees and their new brood in particular. Crocus tommasinianus self seeds well and will tolerate most situations and soil types. 

This crocus selection consists of 200 bulbs, 50 bulbs of 4 varieties, currently:

• 'Crocus tommasinianus': pale lilac to purple
• 'Barr's Purple': deep purple
• 'Ruby Giant': large, violet (see picture)
• 'Whitwell Purple': prolific, reddish purple

Flowers: from January

Delivery: September-November. 

Our crocus collections are sourced from Holland, as native UK populations aren't available commercially. The grower we use has the Milieukeur label of environmental quality, however, which includes a ban on the use of neonicotinoids, for example.
