Bulbs and Rhizomes

Spring flowering bulbs are an important source of early season pollen and nectar, particularly for honeybees and their new brood. There is little forage about for them before the Blackthorn flowers, and this is a time when many colonies starve.
Crocuses naturalize readily and will thrive in most conditions, and their bright orange pollen is a boon for bees in early spring. The native wildflowers we sell here are mostly woodland plants and do best in part shade, so they're useful for difficult spots in the garden. They are all recommended for bees by IBRA ( the International Bee Research Association). We donate half our profit on them to the British Beekeepers' Association.
Please note the despatch times for bulbs and rhizomes, which vary from plant to plant.

Round-headed leeks are native, but rare in the wild. They work well in formal gardens planted in numbers, and are helpful nectar plants in June/July.
