Bulbs

Spring flowering bulbs are an important source of early season pollen and nectar, particularly for honeybees and their new brood. There is little forage about for them before the Blackthorn flowers, and this is a time when many colonies starve. Buying these products will also help The British Beekeepers' Association.
Crocus pollen is bright orange and easy to spot as bees head back into the hive; the plants naturalize readily and will thrive in most conditions.
The native wildflowers we sell are naturally understorey plants and do best in those conditions, so they're useful in filling in a shady spot. As usual, avoid fancy hybrids if you are partly growing for insect forage.
Please note that all our bulbs are despatched between September and November.
