About UsEthos The destruction of native habitats over the last 60 years has led to an enormous loss of biomass in the UK. Many of these habitats are complex mosaics which have developed over hundreds of years and are irreplaceable. We can, however, make a real difference by trying to at least partly recreate these lost habitats or compensating for their loss. These efforts may be critical in saving many of our native species from extinction, although creating habitats for wildlife shouldn't be an altruistic exercise; they should give pleasure in themselves and in what they bring. Habitat Aid also promotes local distinctiveness, which it views as a natural extension of its efforts to support biodiversity in the UK.
