Fritillary Bulbs (Fritillaria meleagris)

Our beautiful native fritillaries (or "Snakeshead" fritillaries) are increasingly rare, and in the wild restricted to a few damp meadows in Southern England. Fritillaria meleagris is the purple-red chequered flower, and we also sell the naturally occurring white form, Fritillaria meleagris alba (white). Their flowers are very striking when the bulbs become naturalised in lawns.

These fritillaries should be planted at least 4 inches deep in soil which doesn't dry out.

These bulbs are sourced from Holland. The grower we use has the Milieukeur label of environmental quality, however, which includes a ban on the use of neonicotinoids, for example.
