Pond Edge Seed Mix

This pond edge mix will produce a selection of ecologically appropriate native wildflowers for pond margins and river banks. Just to be clear, these are species which need wet conditions. If your pond has a liner and the area around it is relatively dry, just use a meadow mix.

The pond edge mix is the seed mix we used for our wildlife pond, together with our lovely collection of large plug plants.

We offer the mix either with or without grasses, and also offer less diverse collections of pond edge plants, without the grasses. With grasses it includes 30% native wildflower seed. Sow at 4g/metre with grasses, 1g/square metre if wildflowers only.

The wildflower seed has guaranteed UK origin and provenance and the grasses are certified.

If you're interested in smaller quantities you can find them here at our sister website. This mix is appropriate for smaller ponds.

30% native wildflower seed and 70% slow growing certified native grasses.

We strongly recommend reading up on wildflower meadows before buying seed - see our resources section and brief guide to preparation and aftercare, which includes links to our "how to" blogs and video.

Although we test our seed and it has high germination rates, you need to be careful about initial care and establishing an annual regime. Don't be put off though - once you get the hang of it it's pretty straightforward.
