Apple Tree Collection - Welsh Eating Apples

3 trees of different traditional varieties of organically grown Welsh eating apple trees. These are currently:

Croen Mochyn: from Anglesey, 1850s.
Pig Aderyn: "Birds Beak", possibly Norman, still found at St Dogmael's Abbey.
Nant Gwrtheryn (pictured): very rare russet eater from an old quarry on the Pen Lyn.

These three varieties aren't just tasty apples. They're hardy and disease resistant, bred for growing in Wales. The three will cross pollinate.

Rootstock: M106
Size: Maiden
Supplier: One Planet Organic

All our apple trees are bare root. If you do not plant your Welsh apples on receipt, they should be unwrapped and either heeled in, or left in their packaging in a cool frost free place before planting within 10 days. A small percentage of bare root plants will fail, but this can be considerably reduced by making sure the roots do not dry out while planting. Chose a frost and wind free damp day, and keep the whips in a bucket of water while planting out.
