Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea)The native foxglove, Digitalis purpurea, is the most lovely biennial, beloved particularly by long tongued bumblebees. Our native foxglove is - guess what - purple. As a woodland plant it likes dappled shade and grows quite happily in relatively dark spots. Foxgloves self-seed prolifically, and its seeds will germinate in disturbed soil. The leaves and flowers of Digitalis are poisonous
