Weald Meadow Mix

Weald Native Origin Seed (WNOS) is a diverse, sustainably harvested wildflower meadow seed mix collected from ancient, species-rich grasslands across the Weald in Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

The seed is harvested from established meadows, many of which are designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) or Local Wildlife Sites (LWSs). Two are also recognised as Sussex Coronation Meadows.

These donor meadows are predominantly lowland neutral to slightly acidic grasslands, including MG5 meadow communities. Typically relatively damp and naturally rich in wildflowers, they support characteristic Weald species such as Green-winged Orchid, Dyer's Greenweed, Pepper Saxifrage and Meadow Vetchling.

Sowing and delivery

Full sowing instructions are included on the back of the packet. Orders are normally delivered within five working days.

About the supplier

The Weald Meadows Partnership works to protect and restore the Weald's rare and increasingly threatened wildflower grasslands. By purchasing this seed, you're helping to conserve these irreplaceable habitats and support their long-term management.

We strongly recommend reading up on wildflower meadows before buying seed - see our resources section and brief guide to preparation and aftercare, which includes links to our "how to" blogs and video. We also run courses on meadow creation and management

Although we test our seed and it has high germination rates, you need to be careful about initial care and establishing an annual regime. Don't be put off though - once you get the hang of it it's pretty straightforward.
