Wool Weed Suppression Roll & Squares

Back in the day - with some misgivings, it's true - we sold plastic mulch for new plants. Then it was jute, and now we have an exciting new, fully biodegradable product for 2025. It's manufactured in the UK from unrefined ethically sourced wool, so you're supporting UK farmers too. 

A weed suppression mat helps retain moisture, manage temperature and remove grass and weed competition, so hedge plants - any plants - will grow faster and more strongly as a result, without the need for chemicals or manual weeding. Wool felt is a perfect medium for this. It retains moisture, acts as a good barrier to prevent weeds and grass growing through it, and biodegrades to release nutrients into the soil. It's good for plants and the environment. Wool apparently deters deer too, which is an unexpected boon. 

We offer a 1x25m roll, with or without bamboo fixing pegs; choose the "with pegs" option and the roll will come with 200 biodegradable pegs (150mm). You'll see it works out cheaper than the jute alternative, and retains moisture better too. We also offer 50cm squares for individual plants, with or without pegs.

Really easy to install; just prepare flattened ground by weeding or strimming, make a small slit for your tree or whip and fix tightly into position with pegs or pins. Unlike plastic mulches, of course, as wool and pegs are fully biodegradable you don't have to remove them.
