Whitebeam (Sorbus aria)

Whitebeam is slow growing and short lived (up to 80 years), but a beautiful medium sized tree, particularly in the spring when its white leaves emerge. It has small white flowers, then bears small red fruit in the autumn, which the birds like. Whitebeam is hardy and easygoing, and will thrive on light soil in exposed, cold, and coastal sites like the related Rowan. Sorbus aria tends to be found naturally on woodland edges on calcareous soils, and has been widely planted in towns as an avenue tree. It's pretty rare in the wild.

Provenance certificates are available on request for the smaller size Whitebeam trees, which are from the Southwest of England.

All these trees are bare root, and are consequently available for delivery from November until March. During the lifting season there may be up to two weeks delay between placing the order and dispatching (longer for standards), due to weather conditions or pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence. Orders placed for Sorbus aria trees between March and September are confirmed in October ready for dispatch from November.
