Wildflowers For Bees

We're discovering that bees need a varied diet. Solitary and bumblebees seem to have a preference for our native wildflowers, which makes sense - they're native species too. Different types of bee feed on different types of flower, so the wider the variety you have the better, and the longer the period when they're flowering. There are fewer wildflowers now in the UK than there ever used to be, and shortage of available forage seems to be a real issue affecting bee health and populations. These flowers won't just help bees, of course, but other pollinators too, including hoverflies, butterflies and moths. We can all do our bit to help out with this.

These Wildflower Plug Plants

...have been selected to particularly benefit a variety of bees. They aren't just attractive and good sources of nectar for pollinators, but they're also essential foodplants for butterfly and moth larvae too. They will thrive on a variety of soil types. Using small plug plants is a useful way of quickly establishing plants. If you are planting them into existing sward, keep a small ring clear of grass around each plant as they establish.

** Please note: We may substitute other suitable plug plants depending on availability and season, and will also include additional species**

These small 55cc plugs are useful way of quickly establishing plants, particularly in existing sward and/or for smaller areas at 5 plants / square metre. If you're planting them on their own use 10 / square metre. These British wildflowers aren't just attractive and good sources of nectar, but they're also essential foodplants for butterfly and moth larvae.

All these bee plants are British grown from guaranteed native seed, most of which is collected by the suppliers themselves. They're grown without the use of peat, fungicides or pesticides.
