Gage Tree - Jefferson's Gage
Origin: New York, c.1825
Type: Dessert
Flowering Group : 1
Rootstock: SJA
Size : Maiden
Harvest : September
Jefferson's Gage was raised by Judge Buel in Albany, New York. Early flowering dessert gage rated "excellent" by the RHS, with compact growth and heavy crops of juicy yellow-green fruit. Jefferson's Gage is self sterile; pollinators for it include (the less appetising) Victoria plum. Like their close but less tasty (and botanically indistinguishable) relations, plums, gages have lovely blossom which attracts a range of pollinators in spring, including bees.
Our Jefferson's Gages are sold as 1 to 2 year old maiden plants, and will growup to make a tree over 3.5m.
Supplier : R.V. Roger Ltd.
All our gage trees, including Jefferson's Gage, are bare root. At the height of the lifting season - between November and March - there may be up to a month's delay between placing the order and dispatching due to pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence, and the weather. Orders for gages from March to September are confirmed in late October/ early November ready for dispatch from November. Please consult our planting and care guide on receipt of your order.
