    Our kitchen hedge is a wonderful idea for any back or school garden - blackberries, redcurrants, gooseberries, filberts, and whitecurrants for a low maintenance and tasty hedge. Why hasn't anyone done this before?! We have selected thornless blackberries and gooseberry varieties with very few spines to trouble small kitchen helpers! Plant at 3 plants / metre and keep trimmed to under a metre after fruiting, according to your requirements.

    This selection is a bit of a whimsy. Would you plant it if your were an iron age warrior defending a hillfort? No. Or a medieval cattle farmer? No. It's a lovely thing for a kitchen garden though, or an allotment. What a sensible way to plant fruit bushes!

    These kitchen hedge plants are bare root, so they are available for delivery from November until March. During the lifting season there may be up to two weeks delay between placing the order and despatch, due to weather conditions or pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence. Orders for hedging plants placed between March and September are confirmed ready for despatch from November.
