Premium Hedgehog House

This is a safe and solid top end hedgehog house from the Arx naturalis range. These boxes were designed by a team led by Simon King, using thick Duraply as an alternative to woodcrete. They share similarly stable thermoregulatory and humidity properties, but are more robust and designed for easier use. 

The hedgehog house is based on a recommended design from the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.  It has a hedgehog-sized entrance door and tunnel to keep predators out, drain and ventilation holes, and a spacious interior. It's constructed mostly from thick duraply, which helps with longevity and thermoregulation, and a removable roof covered in thick recycled farm plastics .

Hedgehog care

This hedgehog box should be placed in a cool quiet part of your garden and ideally covered with dried leaves, twigs and other vegetation.

Take care not to disturb the house during the summer - if it is being used as a nursery the female could abandon the nest. If you can't find specialist hedgehog food at your local garden centre you can substitute wet or dried cat food. And don't forget to provide a bowl of fresh water for your hogs!
