Variety

Blackberries (Rubus fruticosus)

Our selection of thornless blackberries produce delicious berries throughout the season. Their flowers attract a number of pollinators, of which honey bees are the most efficient, although our photos here show hoverflies. All bees generally love blackberry blossom - including bumblebees and several species of solitary bee - and you'll also see butterflies and hoverflies on blackberry blossom. Plant 2 to 3 metres apart, and cut back after planting to around 20cm. Tie new blackberry shoots in and then remove the old. All the varieties we sell are vigorous and disease free and will thrive in most well drained fertile soils.
